Jever Fun – a non alcoholic version of the famous Jever Pilsner
The name of the East Frisian town of Jever in Northern Germany is most often associated with its beer: Jever Pilsener. Many advertisements in the course of a sound marketing strategy have created this link and established the picture of a Pilsner being as, well let’s say dry as the Frisian mentality. Indeed, Jever Pilsener is well-known throughout Germany and beyond its boundary, but are you aware of the fact that the Jever, respectively the Friesisches Brauhaus zu Jever, has also been brewing a non-alcoholic Pilsner since 1991? With our review we would like to give you a first glance at Jever Fun and tell you, whether it might be rewarding to get a bottle of this non-alcoholic beer from Northern Germany and test it yourself – or not! Is Jever Fun fun to drink?

Jever Fun - Our Review
Keeping the original Jever Pilsner in mind, we had a go at Jever Fun. When pouring it into a typical Pilstulpe (German beer glass for Pilsner), the beer froth showed to be very unstable and did not convince us. The same applied to the color of Jever Fun. It was rather weak and had some similarity to the typical color Kolsch beers usually have. However, the smell promised lots of hops and Jever Fun did not disappoint us regarding the taste. Having little carbon dioxide, Jever Fun is very bitter due to a strong hops flavor and keeps its taste during the long aftertaste. It is a simple but very refreshing taste containing hardly any scent of malt. A great thirst quencher indeed. Despite its properties regarding beer froth and color, Jever Fun is a recommendable non-alcoholic beer with a strong taste and character. We really liked it! Yet, beware, beer novices should not start with Jever Fun, but rather with a less bitter and less intense non-alcoholic beer. Beer enthusiasts will love this beer!
